The Blasted Stone

This last week my poor wonderful husband was attacked by kidney stones. Here is the story. We went to the movies together and then on the way home he kept saying he wasn't feeling very good. He finally pulled over so I could drive because it was getting worse. I was worried because Dan is such a tough guy and never acts like anything hurts him. It started getting really bad and he was thrashing around. He kept saying his kidney hurt so I called my dad (who has had stones a few times) and told him what Dan was dealing with. He was positive it was stones. So I drove him down to my brothers house (this is at one in the morning!) and my brother gave him a blessing. By the time we got back home, Dan maybe lasted thirty minutes before he was begging to go to the hospital. It scared me so bad because he is ANTI-doctors all the time. But he was just heaving and throwing his body around. He wasn't crying but he was close enough to it. So I got him in the car and headed to the hospital. Dan had his head out the window throwing up over and over because the pain was so bad. He threw up so hard he popped the blood vessels in his eyes! So then for the next week he looked like a demon cuz his eyes were completely blood red. yucky. But anyway, on the way there we got PULLED OVER! Because our brake light was out! I couldn't believe it! The cop came up to the window and I was basically just crying my head off saying please officer I'm trying to get him to the hospital! the cop was like okay just go, don't worry about just go! So that was nice of him. :) Then at the hospital he got an MRI and they found the stone. The doctor said it was 5mm and that it was probably too big to pass on his own but he would let Dan try. So he loaded him up with all kinds of pain medicine and sent us on our way. The pain never decreased so Dan was stoned on percocet for a week. For Thanksgiving we were going up to Idaho to stay with Dan's parents. He still hadn't passed anything so he was still in a lot of pain. On thanksgiving day, Dan ran up to me and said, "I have something really awesome to show you!" and he held out his hand. In his hand was this stone. It was HUGE. bigger than 5mm and covered in spikes. I couldn't believe he had to pee that out! But afterwards he felt immediatly better. Here it is compared to a penny. ugh! But all is well that ends well. My boyf is such a trooper.

First of all... before reading about Dan's "worst experience ever" I saw the pic and thought it was the inside of a toilet bowl, the penny being the hole with maybe something clogging it? Pretty much something Cody would take a pic of- gross kid.
Second- I'm very happy to read that he survived... poor guy.

I am so happy he passed it! Wow I was worried. But man Dan, now after passing that stone, imagine having a baby weighing like 8 pounds coming out of that hole! haha not a pretty picture huh?!

Wow... what an ordeal! Taylor and Chase told me the story the next morning. I've never had a stone before, knock on wood, but from the sound of it... it seems awful! Hope all is well now.

So... how did you get the stone? Did you reach your hand in the toilet fishing around for a tiny something.. after you peed in it?? Was it worth it?

hahha no he peed into a strainer that the doctor gave him. so the strainer caught it and then he washed it off and kept it as a souvenier.....

That is so crazy, glad he's ok now...that's ridiculous that something THAT small can cause so much pain
